One of the ironies of being plus-sized is that once you decide to start living a healthier lifestyle it can be hard to find active wear so that you can start exercising. Luckily, more clothing designers are starting to realise that there is a huge market out there for plus-sized active wear. My blog is my way of showing a selection of cool options available for bigger ladies who like to work out, from more modest clothing to funky and revealing outfits. Just because you wear a bigger size of gym wear doesn't mean you shouldn't exercise and stay healthy.

While most people hit the gym to sweat it out, it's good to make sure that you aren't putting anyone off with unsightly sweat marks at the gym. Here are some tips to make sure you feel cool and stay looking good during your workout. 

Choose the right clothes

Choosing the right clothes can make a lot of difference to how cool you stay at your work out as many clothing lines have gym wear made of modern, sweat-wicking fabrics. This breathable fabric keeps you cooler and makes sure you don't feel unnecessarily damp as you work out. Equally choosing a darker fabric colour is a great idea as these clothes tend to show less sweat. It might be time to ditch those old sweatpants and get some cool new gym clothes!

These clothes are also usually quick to dry making them easy to wash between gym visits. If you tend to sweat your gym clothes might become smelly if you tend to wear them multiple times between workouts. 

Carry an absorbent towel

Many gym wear lines also sell towels made of chamois-like material that can soak up large amounts of sweat while staying dry to the touch which is great for heavy sweaters. It's much nicer to be able to use a dry feeling towel than a soggy one to wipe your brow. Not only is this a great option to keep you dry, and you can also use the towel to place between you and workout equipment so that your sweat doesn't stay behind once you get up. This is much more pleasant for everyone at the gym!

Use antiperspirant

Even though you'll still sweat at the gym, carrying some antiperspirant and applying some straight before you start your workout can be a good idea. If you tend to work out towards the end of the day then you might find that the antiperspirant you applied this morning doesn't have enough staying power to make it through a workout at the days end. It can also be useful to head to the pharmacy and see if an over-the-counter option might be more effective for you compared to the mass market options. 

There is no reason for sweating to stop you from heading to the gym. Choose the right sportswear can make a lot of difference in making sure that you feel comfortable and look great while you are getting fit.
